9' This has been a quick start by the visitors, the hosts are looking to press high but the Swiss' three-man defence look comfortable playing out from the back and breaking between German lines.
7' Goretzka looks to have fouled Xhaka in the build-up but referee Buquet insists play on. Kroos cannot make the most of the chance from outside the area and Schar clears up the danger.

5' GOALLL!! 1-0 SWITZERLAND! The corner looks to have broken down before Freuler heads a loose ball back into the area. Somehow, Gavranovic finds himself unmarked at the back post and loops a header back over Neuer and into the left-hand corner. Replays show that the Swiss scorer may have been offside, but there is no VAR here in Cologne.

4' SAVE! Shaqiri is in acres of room from Freuler's low cross into the area but Liverpool's winger can only hit the feet of Neuer from close range and the ball trickles out for a corner.
3' Despite it looking like 4-4-2 before the game, it appears Petkovic has opted for a three-man defence of Schar, Rodriguez, Elvedi with Zuber and Widmer pushing on as wing-backs.
1' Havertz instantly breaks through the Swiss defence and earns a corner for his side on the right-hand side. Kimmich and Kroos play short together but nothing comes of the set-piece.
1' Referee Ruddy Buquet blows his whistle to signal the start of this Nations League fixture!
